DIGS Idol of the Week: Emma Tattenbaum-Fine, star of “Way to Grow”
OCCUPATION: Comedian/writer/actor
WEBSITE: www.politicalsubversities.com
Q: Out of all the DIY projects you’ve done, which is your favorite?
A: Definitely the fairy gardens we made with Shirley.  Ari, my comedic partner, and I loved how whimsical and silly it was.  I found the project relaxing and playful.
Q: What are your go-to sites for inspiration?
A: Ari and I are both really into “Smart Girls at the Party”, another YouTube Original Channel.  I write political satire… so I go to npr.org for inspiration.  As for DIY, Quarry Books has a great website with fascinating new DIY books on stuff I could see myself getting into, like foraging.  My boyfriend is a chef, so I’m into foraging as an idea.  Another book on the site is called How to Make Stuffed Animals!  Um, yes, please!  They also do interviews with crafters and I like learning how people feel most creative and disciplined with their projects.
Q: What does your creative/living/studio space look like?
A: Coffee shops!  That is where Ari and I do all our writing, both separately and together.
Way to Grow: Garden designer Shirley Bovshow and her two apprentices, comedians Ariana Seigel and Emma Tattenbaum-Fine, take you through the basics with a fun Gardening 101 series.  Shirley brings the expertise; Ari and Emma bring the cluelessness.  If Shirley can teach them to garden, she can definitely teach you!
